Cranfield
We have a large honeysuckle bush climbing on the trellis fencing, outside our kitchen window. Yesterday, during a heavy rain shower, there were quite a few sparrows sheltering in it. A sparrowhaw landed on the top of the fencing and walked up and down, looking down at the sparrows hopping around beneath it. Then it jumped into the bush and seemed to run/flap around chasing them. None of them flew out of the bush and it didn't manage to catch any. It went back to the top of the fence for a breather, then had another go. After three unsuccessful attempts, it gave up and flew away. I would guess it was there for almost an hour. There are a lot of hawks on the Marsh, as well as owls. We must have one of the biggest mouse and shrew populations per acre in the UK.
plexer
Several years ago I after a huge downpour I was walking through our block of flats past a piece of grass and in the middle sat a very wet looking sparrowhawk sourounded by several very wet pigeons. They all just sat there. Ben
