smokeyoakey
Hi all I dont know why but, i cannot understand WHY Sightron Scopes do not get mentioned more often when someone is looking for a Quality Scope but are unable to go down the Swaro, Zeiss, Schmidt etc route. Both myself and my shooting buddy have got Sightrons with him got the 10x50x60 and myself the 8x32x56. We now do a bit of everything from sitting out in low light, lamping and also have a bit of a play at long range target shooting. Some may think its a bit over the top when theres the 6x24x56 would do the job with perhaps a bit more field of view but each to there own. I must admit i'd never heard of them and was more than happy with my 8X56 S&B until i had a look through my mates 10x50 and long range targets Zoomed in so too speak. I was still undecided but decided to ring Aimfieldsports, after looking at there Website at the Sightron Range. I spoke to John who i must admit after telling him what shooting i wanted it for recommended the 6x24 but with no pressure for a sale. John gave me all the time i needed and answered all the Questions i wanted to know and even offered to send a 6x24 and a 8x32 to me to compare as long as i didn't put them on a rifle (top, top service). Well iv'e Had my 8x32 for a good while now and am absolutely over the moon with it on all fronts and today i phoned Aimfieldsports up as i had lost my scope alankey spoke to John, he remembered me asked how i was getting on with the scope and said he will post another alankey no charge what service. If anybody is thinking of getting a new scope, i'd certainly recommend you give Aimfieldsports a ring and ask for John (check out the Website) Sorry for going on a bit Smokey
Alycidon
Very narrow eye relief on high mag, so eye position is crtitical. Personally I could not live with one, glass looks ok though. A
sepulchre
I see where your coming from, what's ya get for your money, I have a Hawke 4-16 x 50 mildot scope that I have been using for yonks and it works a treat, although not perfect, low light is acceptable, magnification is okay, side focus is a bit hit and miss on ranging, best magnification is at 10 - 12x, it's tough as old boots and very robust and I can land shots pretty accurately and I reckon for a sub £200 scope it's pretty mint. On the other hand I have zeiss duralyt IR that cost me £850 :( does it do anything any better than my hawke? Yup! Image clarity is crystal through the full magnification range, light gathering properties are amazing however does it improve my shooting from 50 to 150 meters? Not really So why buy one! For 100 to 300+ meters it does as other quality optics do and come into their own, by delivering such a clear and sharp image that lower end scopes just can't compete with, combined with such a fine reticle incorporating pin pont illumination without bleeding light onto the optic and giving you that cursed red or green glow, they are amazing. Would I put a zeiss or Swarovski on a .22 or 17HMR - No! Would I put a Hawke on a .243 - No! Save the expensive scopes for the larger calibre, longer range guns then I think it all makes much more sense Opinion delivered -
kent
A great bloke to deal with and a shooter of worth himself (rare it seems when your looking at rifle stuff)
