Kes
A big thank you to Ste - I have borrowed his caller whilst he's sunning himself etc., It works well and has a large range of calls that can be added to - Ste provided a web link to more sounds.to try. I too will be following the 'how to build' thread and I suspect Ste may have an idea about remote control with so many interested. Kes. Bewsher500
the advantage of a remote caller over hand or manual is you can call the fox "away" from you. it's attention is not on the bloke hiding in the shadows or the dim red light. I use two old phones with two PAYG SIM cards. turn off all the voicemail features so it never stops ringing and set the call as the ringtone. no limit on range assuming you have signal and as the call never connects you don't use the credit. i plug one of the little ipod Ball speakers in to increase volume. cost me £10 for two SIMs with £5 credit, calls were free, all the rest I had. Bazooka Joe
I made my own prob cost around £20 all in but its great quality and really loud!! i bought a power horn( amazon i think) and a hobby box (from maplin) and made a simple amplifier board fit in the box along with a cheap mp3 player i got a sony walkman mp3 for £8.i have downloaded the foxpro calls and loads of others and made 1 hour loops with 2min calling then 2 min silence etc. you could use it with crow calls etc for birdwatching if you follow .. or just put the radio on through it in the hide if your getting bored I've used one like this for the last 6-7yrs.....early mornings is best with this kind of caller, & the 12g, getting the Fox running to your feet gets the adrenalin pumping. i have downloaded the foxpro calls Interested to know how you've converted the Foxpro calls to MP3, pm if you like..?
