Terrano clutch problem.

My new to me... Terrano has an odd problem,

The clutch sometimes slips after a long run then when it's been parked up a bit it's back to normal.

I think it's a hydrolic problem as opposed to a mechanical fault.

Has anyone had anything similar ? Anyone offer any advice? It's doing my head in.

I can`t see it being a hydraulic problem.

It more than likely a worn out clutch plate.

It grips and works when its cold but when the clutch is hot and the flywheel and pressure plate get hot and expands the tolerances open up and the clutch slips.

Are you getting a bit of a squealing noise when the clutch starts to bite has you set off.

If so thats the clutch plate rivets squealing against the flywheel.

If you run it for long it will wreck the flywheel. Not cheap.

The only other thing I have come across is when a clutch plate spring had broken and got its self wedged in the pressure plate stopping it from working properly and making the clutch slip.

Sorry bud but I would say get the box off and put a new 3 in 1 clutch kit in it. ie clutch plate. pressure plate.Thrust bearing.

Ive got mine up for sale and its been stood for a couple of weeks, had a guy round tonight to look at it and the clutch is biting about an inch of the floor which put him off, would this be needing a new clutch? It is not slipping at all.

Try checking the clutch fluid level as the pipe that goes to the slave cylinder can go porous and leak.

Cheers mate, the level is fine, the guy came back today with his 'mechanic' and has bought it. Only trouble is he lives local and I bump into him often walking the dogs but the Terrano is a good old truck and to the best of my knowledge is ok.
