Can't answer for anything to look out for, but with an instructor who kept on saying, "Go on it's fine", as we're heading down hill canted at a gravity defying angle, I did the off road course at Westpoint arena near Exeter in one, frightening myself to death in the process. Assuming tyres for the purpose, you'll have no problems.

From what I have seen and read about then they are quite capable of going off road the have high/low gear box the only downside for going off road is you can lot lift them to put bigger wheels on them but then if you only want to go across fields etc all that they need is a good set of AT tyres it was one of the cars that I had in mind getting but one did not come up for sale in my area to I went with my other option and got a Vitara.
