hi all

well thankfully the weather has not been to bad this Easter and i managed a few trips out , on Friday it was dry and the sun was out so i headed over to one of my perms late afternoon i pulled into the yard to be met by the farmer we get talking and he asked if i could get a deer and we could go half not a problem i said and with that i was off on hot per suite of a deer.. i thought i would target a roe doe as it would be my last chance this season to get one.. first deer i came across was a doe i spotted her as i was driving to another field but she didn't wait around long enough for me to get my kit out the car. i begin to tip toe around the land trying to be silent but with frozen snow around it was tricky to say the least.. i counted four muntjak as i walked around two burst out of cover no more that 10 yards in front of me scared the xxxx out of me lol but no luck none really gave a safe shot so had to let them walk.. i finely got into a good position and on the first look through the binos a spotted a roe a good distance away she had already spotted me and was stood half in cover with a fixed gaze my way . i slowly made a move to the ground with gun on pod and placed the cross hairs on her she was stood a bit odd with the front leg arched backwards not really giving me a shot but after a couple of minuets she dropped her leg and that was my time to place a shot she was hit fine and made a run of 30 yards then collapsed the shot was 160 yards heart lung

i had a massive walk back to the car it killed me carrying the deer gun back pack the lot.. i butchered the deer the next day and made the journey back to the farm he was delighted with the spread of meet and asked me how much he owed me lol i told him the permission was enough but in return he filled a box full of dexter beef joints i told him no but he insisted..
everyone happy
thanks andy

Either roe sack or some rope and drag them back thats what we didi when we got 2 the other week tied them together and rope over shoulder and away we go..

Mind you we took turns and we were still both knackered at the end..:lol:

they do weigh a fair bit what makes it worse is everything your carrying and across country too. i had to stop a few times and re-position i tend to rope all legs together and put it over my head like a bag it works fine just have to have the leg power
