mrmints Posted April 12, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) UPDATE Collected my gun from the local RFD yesterday and cut some old empty cartridges down to size to have a look at how it works. The magazine cut off does exactly what I would expect in a non-firing situation. I know I'm repeating myself, but when its not pressed in, I can cycle through and eject all three rounds. Push it in and it will eject whats in the chamber and not feed anything else from the magazine (no matter how many times I pull back or let slide the action) until I release the magazine cut off. If while the action is back and locked I release the magazine cut off and then let the action slide forward, it will cycle a round from the chamber (need to remeber this!). I'll be checking to see what happens when it's fired tomorrow, but I suspect it will do as above until the trigger is pulled and then the magazine cut off will jump out again, and carts will cycle from the magazine. It will manually cycle all day long with the cut off activated and it will remain cut off. Fire a shot and the cut off is released and the next cartidge cycled into the chamber. By manually cycle I'm talking about pulling the bolt back and then pressing the button to release it (as if you'd just loaded). I can do this as many times as I like without disengaging the mag cut off, but as soon as its fired, the mag cut off disengages and if the mag is loaded, the next cartridge is cycled. I've had other members confirm theirs operates in the same way i.e. not when firing! It's purely to allow you to make it safe without having to remove all three rounds from the gun. That's how I read it! USE OF THE “MAGAZINE CUT-OFF BUTTON” When engaged the magazine cut-off button prevents the feeding of any cartridges from the magazine tube into the chamber. This offers the possibility to extract the live round from the cartridge chamber and lock the bolt open for safety reasons, or to replace the round in the cartridge chamber with a different load.
