Peskyfoxs
Anybody got an idea of what the below proof mark is, it looks like a CH but that makes it 1930 on the Spanish proof info I can find, could be SH but can't find SH anywhere It's on an over & under Aya yeoman with a serial starting FS
lees
That looks like number 31 here to me http://www.shotguns.se/html/spain.html but if that 1st proof mark is the same as number 19 which it says was used until 1931 and the 2nd one looks like number 37 to me which it says was used from 1931 onwards maybe it could be a late 1930 or something? I'm sure someone who knows what they are talking about will be on here soon though! But it could be a date code in the serial number making me completely wrong. Peskyfoxs
Only thing is Aya only started making shotguns in 1945, Eibar proof house started using that proof in 1931 so I'm wondering if another says actual date of proof rather than just identifying the proof house
Zulu
May be worth emailing details/serial number to AYA , got a reply same day when I dated my Yoeman last year .

Peskyfoxs
May be worth emailing details/serial number to AYA , got a reply same day when I dated my Yoeman last year . Already emailed them, they said made by FELIX SARRIUGARTE as the serial has the FS serial yet it says Aya Yeoman on the side plate and Aya stamps inside, Aya used to make parts for other gunmakers apparently. Andy H
The CH is the mark for renforced smokeless proof 12,801psi and the date code should be stamped on the barrel's not the action.

wymberley
Googling, 'AyA history' and reading through, particularly the era in which your gun was made, helps explain what was happening at that time.
jackinbox99
Excellent. Glad you managed to find the year from the proof marks!
