Dannyboy220
We should start swapping details of good payers. As a sales rep for an industrial flooring company I can list on the one hand the few remaining builders who pay to time. They are the ones holding up all the trades at the moment. Problem is every cowboy is going in too cheap. Not covering the full job then going under when it goes tits up.
kent
There is a direct correlation between your rate of bad payers and the way a business carries on. There are a few genuine bad payers though who never intend to pay the price agreed. 1st trick is get a clear contract with a clear price not swap tales as there are two sides to most stories
Dannyboy220
Agreed there are a few genuine payers but far too many that aren't along the supply chain. End user, main contractor, tradesmen, supplier. The end user could be a genuine customer who just wants a good job. But if the main contractor has slashed all the rates on the project then the tradesmen who is probably a good payer normally, hasn't got anything in to cover site issues or callbacks. His employees need paying, the tax man wants his chunk and before you know it the pots empty. At best his account is on stop. No trade but still hope, or.. He folds. Starts up again the next day in his wife's name to start again. Great! If he is a genuine guy that just got caught out. Otherwise he's free to do it all again. Debt free!
