Ferret Master
Hi, I need to replenish my supply of quarry cartridges for my Beretta 20 bore. I was thinking about getting a few boxes of Hull Sterling Game Fibre cartridges in a 28g load as I don't shoot loads of quarry with the shottie I will only be getting a few boxes. I will get a box of 5's at least a couple of boxes of 6's and a box of 7's. Does anyone have any experience with these carts and are they worth buying or should I go for another brand? What does everyone else use for pigeon, rabbits and squirrels? Thanks in advance for any and all replies. FM
Baldrick
FM, I 've used a 20-bore regularly for a long time, and I now stick to Eley cartridges, specifically the Grand Prix or CT-28s. I find the 25g Grand Prix unparalleled for driven shooting. The CT28s are good if you need to pack a bit more punch (on game, pigeon or Sporting clays), although 25g ammo in a 20-bore is the most comfortable combination, regarding recoil. The Express Super 28 or Special Fibre 28s are seriously quick and punchy cartridges, but they kick noticeably more than the softer Eleys. I would steer clear of RC ammunition unless you have money coming out of your ears. Ultimately your current Hull choice is a good one, and Eleys are a capable and relatively cheap alternative. Ferret Master
Hi, I have been trying to get some CT's or VIP 28g Eley cartridges for a while but most shops around here such as Countrywide farmers or Wadswick country store only have the Grand Prix in 6's and 7's or in Bismuth. According to their Website Wiltshire Rod and Gun don't stock Eley carts so I may look for another dealer and stock up. Thank-you for your reply. dodeer
Greenfields in salisbury sell VIP. The Maryarm range that Rod and Gun sell are very potent and i would recommend the RC T3. Saying that the Hull Sterling are very good aswell as the High Pheasant.
