collingbournewood
All the gear no idea ? first time out all new gear, I only have permission on one 50 acre field no birds on the field, set up half way up the field with the wind coming from behind, sat there for about and hour nothing came in, the only birds I saw were just flying over near the top corner with a wood behind, so moved all the gear and set up again, this time put the decoys a bit further out furthest about fifty yards from the hide, in an L shape with a landing area about 35 yards out, still very few birds moving at all, after about half an hour a pair of birds came right into the decoys, rushed and missed.......... learnt a bit, had a shot, looking forward to going out again, don't suppose you can expect to decoy birds that are just not there. I have booked on a BASC pigeon day so this should help, I think I have found a flight line now, guessing I need to put a bit of movement into the decoy's with a flapper, magnet, or bouncer to bring the odd passing bird in. and at least I have got a bit of mud on my kit now !! Martin&Oakley
Things I learnt yesterday were. Try and bring the birds in from the left/right. Bring the gun up slowly and try to only take on the close birds at first. Just my lessons learnt, that worked on the day.
