Mixed Decoy's, what are the effects?

The number of times ive seen pigeon, crow and magpie together in a field has made me wonder, can you mix your decoys to give the appearence of a naturally varied habbitat? Keeping a standard pigeon horseshoe as the basis with plenty of room to entice in the pigeons, would it be worth adding say magpie or crow decoys in and around the field or in the hedgerows, or does this just have a negative effect on the pigeons flight path?

 If there are crows about we often add a couple of crow deaks away from the pigeon pattern but still in range of the gun. It doesn,t seem to put the pigeons off at all and can often give the added bonus of a bit of crow shooting when the pigeons go a bit quiet.

I must edorse what my shootin partner say`s.

Some time it pays to place the crow deeks at each extremity of the pattern , 35yds away from the hide .Thus when the birds are between these

(OUTRIDERS) they will be in range.

We try to arrange our pattern to coincide with the wind direction

,but somtimes the wind changes, and adjustment to the deek pattern is necessary.

It all boils down to field craft, tring to outwit the whiley pigeon.

GOOD SHOOTING TO ALL.
