  1. Many years ago shooting on winter rape ,doing the usual thing ,chasing them around the field. Well they dropped in about 600 yards away twice, so I moved there with 6 decoys settled in the ditch and waited, In they dropped about 50 of them so I lined up tow or three of them .fired then shot at one flying off to the left and then swung around to the right firing at another Well I picked up three from my deeks two from my left and one from my right . Not bad 6 birds for three shots. :(

    Pellets

:< :< :< Hi Squirrel with reference to the grouping with your wasps . I said in a prievious post that I was informed that the machines that produced the wasp pellets have moved. They have been transported up north, the result has been , that with the precision that has been achieved by ELEY in the past has yet to be reproduced. Engineers amongst you may understand that that they need to bed themselves in. That is why ELEY produced such good pellets for so long. Lets hope they will do so again soon.. :yp:
  3. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MEMBERS AND STRAIGHT SHOOTING TO ALL. HERE`S TO HAPPY HOURS SPENT IN THE COUNTRY HICK I`LL DRINK YO THAT.
  4. :yp: Point taken JUNO, it just looked a good pattern to me, mind you I do like to see and feel any garment , rather than buy out of a magazine or the like..
  5. :yp: Hi there I was going to refere members to the article in this weeks ANGLING TIMES,until I clicked on tob Deako`s recommended site. First class or what. HOWEVER. Matt Hayes is advertising a range of CAMMO gear. which looks very tasty , and if I hadn`t bought one last year I would certanly buy the 3/4 jacket . The range is an ADVATAGE pattern and looks very good. The web site is www.totalfishinggear.co.uk I thought the trousers a bit pricy. After saying this I tryed the web site and it has not been completed yet, the ANGLING TIMES is on sale at allgood news agents.
  6. I must edorse what my shootin partner say`s. Some time it pays to place the crow deeks at each extremity of the pattern , 35yds away from the hide .Thus when the birds are between these (OUTRIDERS) they will be in range. We try to arrange our pattern to coincide with the wind direction ,but somtimes the wind changes, and adjustment to the deek pattern is necessary. It all boils down to field craft, tring to outwit the whiley pigeon. GOOD SHOOTING TO ALL.
  7. The great master of all time Achie Coats was once asked " Is it proper that I should shoot a pigeon on the ground " he replied "After searching the country side and finding where the pigeon are located , sited your hide in the right place, set your decoys out in a convinsing pattern. All this to entice the most wilyest quarry to come into range,I am most certain that you are entitled to shoot it on the ground." This is the advice from the master . He also advocates that you let the first one land and shoot the one following first, then take the second , as he flys away. ALL THE BEST ADVICE FROM MR COATES BOOK ON PIGEON SHOOTING. PS. The best shooting sport ever.
  8. : First reply under new name (FORGOT MY PASSWORD, not recommended) Went out yesterday and noticed the same. Pigeons on the rape first thing ,went to look at another field and when we returned they had dissapeared. anyhow i set up on the first field and managed only 28 all day. Ernyha struggled for15 ,the weather was not to our advantage, High Pressure and no wind . We look forward to some good sport later.
