Fox whistle

Just got a tenter ton whistle, and all I've got for a couple of hours practicing is lips that look like I have been botoxed? Any one got the hang of them yet, seen the YouTube and mines pathetic by comparison. John

Took me a little while to get the hang of it but when you do make sure you keep at it.

I made my own recently and just couldn't seem to suss how to use it even after watching lots of videos - but all of a sudden I worked it out, this works for me;

 

 

ignore the whistle for now, remember how you whistle by curling the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth? try that to start with...

 

 

 

When you've got that, put the whistle in your mouth, with your tongue in the position you had it in to whistle (above) and the underside of your tongue just touching the hole on top of the whistle and do the same as you did to whistle. Like I said, works for me - I even got a fox to come to me, sadly on a permission where the farmer doesn't want them shot

Well, after going blue in the face, shirt wet thru with slaver have give up and gone to my widget n whistle, guaranteed to make a noise however you blow it, and pleased the wife also. John

Well what can i say, thanks Paul that video did the trick and now getting some interesting sounds coming out and some more practice (out of hear shot of the wife) should reap some results , john

The first one i use here is a version of the Tenterfield (Andre Georgescu) - i've found the wetter / more spittle you have in your mouth, the better and more raspy it sounds...
