ferreter10
Picked up a 2004 scooby forester yesterday for a very reasonable price for a car with no issues( apparently). After the test drive all was fine, great tight car. On the way home I tried the cruise control and it worked fine all the way on the motorway. Came off the motorway and the car starts going mad! With the cruise control completely off, the car is revving at 4/5 thousand then down to two, then back up again without me touching the accelerator. Does anyone have any experience on these? Can I have not taken the cruise control off properly? Any help is much appreciated Jamie

fenboy
I would guess , a split in a air pipe or as above a faulty airflow meter . If its either it will be a cheap fix
Livefast123
No experience with Scoobies but it could be an intake air leak, mass air flow, idle air control valve, throttle position valve, fly by wire throttle control if the car has these fitted or some sort of electrical gremlin with the cruise control. I think there was a recall on Subaru cruise control, something to do with the cables being too tight.
