lakeside1000
This afternoon I went over to hemsby Norfolk, a small permission ive had for the last three years, took my shotgun and camo and just sat in the end of a small wood under a flight line, fired 8 shots in the first 5 minutes, pigeons everywhere, hundreds of them, ended with 8 picked up and 2 down in the wood i couldn't find, for 22 cartridges, it was really hard with the wind blowing them along like excorcet missiles, i must be slowing up as i couldn't swing through fast enough to catch up with them, had dozens pass overhead and didnt see them coming they were so low and fast, great fun though, packed up at 7 with birds still feeding and moving around, out again tomorrow afternoon for a few hours, see if they are on the new barley and beet Edited May 9, 2013 by lakeside1000
Full Pelt
Some nice clean birds there. Not so windy today and should be easier to get in front of them, a huge lead is better than shooting behind !
lakeside1000
Problem when you hit them high on the wind is how far you have to walk to pick up, especially if you need to finish the job and they dont want to be caught, its alright when your young but pensioners cant run as fast, some of the birds were about 100 yards out , and **** law every time you go out more come over, plus when they fall on neighbours land you cant take your gun with you, but I always pick up all birds where possible, just part of the job. anyway the long walk ones taste just as good as the ones that fall at your feet.
