Info from hw owners please. What shot mags do they do and what sort of weight am I looking at for the 14" clasic looking one think its the 66j. Im after a jack of all trades riffle target mainly and hunter of better quality. At the moment I have a cz 455 varmint 16" .22lr and looking for an upgrade.

As far as I know Weihrauch only make 5 shot mags. I enquired about replacement prices at SGC once and they quoted me £57 for an HMR mag so I expect .22 mags won't be far behind.

My .22lr is a 14" HW60j. Can't tell you the precise weight - it doesn't give it in the manuel - but going by the scales minus the known weight of the scope, near as damn it 3 kilos or 6 3/4 lb. That's without mod.

The 14" is a good choice. There's no benefit to a longer barrel with a .22lr. With a light mod like a SAK the point of balance is more or less dead centre of the rifle which makes it feel light and neutral and easy to shoot off hand and in unsupported stances in general. A benefit with a .22.

Lovely crisp two stage trigger, fully adjustable for weight and travel. Mine's set to about 1.5 lb The hogs back Bavarian stock is excellent shooting off-hand (which is what its designed for - its a sporting not a target design) but for me (5' 11", normal build) feels short in the pull length and a bit flat to the heel when shooting prone. Doesn't matter for the shooting I do but if you plan a lot of prone target shooting try it for fit first. There are other models with more suitable stocks. Not sure how widely available though.

When run in the action cycles like a greased piston, but its not a particularly vigorous ejector. You need to be positive. Try a slow discreet reload to avoid noise and you can be picking out the casing by hand. I don't know whether a stronger spring can be fitted somewhere. Otherwise its an excellent all-round rifle. Don't think you'd be disappointed. The finish is particularly good quality and tough as nails.

I have a 66 in .17HMR, it is a beautiful piece of kit, the way I look at it, might cost 3x the same calibre of a CZ but it's 10x the gun.

The tigger is really nice, 2 stage, never bothered adjusting mine, as I'm happy with the factory settings.

Any good dealer will be able to lob a few inches off the barrel, the gun is heavy, but not out of the way, I'm also 5'11 and carry it around the farm all day with a butler creek neoprene sling, it'd heavy enough not to move when on a bipod, I would describe the barrel as being a lightweight heavy barrel.

Cheers for the detailed info guys, much appreciated. I liked the feel and build quality of the hw,but chose to buy a cz455 when i should have bought the hw. Will have a look at some new ones again and see what deal they will do on a trade in. Thanks again Albert.
