Sussexboy
Just picked up a 8 month old part trained lab little boy on Friday. How do I get him and my 13 year old spaniel bitch to see eye to eye. The spaniel has had the odd snap at him and today I caught him attack her out of the blue. Unfortunately they will have to live in the same room eventually. Will they sort themselves out or do I need some assistance???

Devon Fox
I didnt say thrash it to with in an inch of its life ! When you have an older dog like this, it will not give up its status, the other will keep pushing and pushing and eventually the older dog will lose and maybe get hurt. I mean shut the dog out for an hour so he knows hes done wrong etc!
Sussexboy
Just as an update, we've not had a peep out of the lab since his telling off. He has been sat on his bed looking as though butter wouldn't melt

Devon Fox
I have trained about 10 dogs all in all, used to show German Sheps for a number of years in agility and breed, had a lot of very good results. Have had problems similiar to above on a few occasions and got results, good enough for you? quite why i am justifying myself i dont know. lurcherboy
Perfectly normal behaviour mate the old one will keep the new boy in place by letting him know what he can and can't do. This may change at any moment though and the important thing is to let them settle the matter as no amount of help from you will change the social pecking order infact it may make matters worse LB
