wymberley
Having been asked to, I've just run Winchester subs over the chrono through a 14" barrelled Anschutz. I think I'm right in saying that the advertised velocity is 1065ft/sec. The corrected MV was 1035 which at 5 yards had been 1027 with a velocity spread of 39 (1045-1006). Just for the sake of it, I also tried the SK which I changed to after problems with Eley and which are advertised at 1034 at 2.5 metres. Like for like, 1043 corrected from 1034 with a velocity spread of just 3 (1036- 1033). Now I can possibly understand how come they're so accurate in my rifle. dadioles
I have a 14" Anschutz but as .17hmr and it is excellent. My two .22LR rifles are both CZ and, like yourself, I use SK Subs. After testing all the different brands of .22LR in MY CZ's it was the SK (made by Lapua) that proved to be the most accurate and consistent. They were a bit more expensive but worth it. That is not to say that the SK would be the best for every rifle of course. It is essential to try as many different makes of ammunition as possible and find which is best for your particular gun. I find some brands of ammunition are very tight in the chamber.
drut
Current batch of Winnies chronoed 1026 to 1061fps through my 16"CZ 452 yet give 1/2" or slightly better groups @ 50yds,which given the variance,I find surprising!Have yet to try Lapua/Sk but will try to find local stockist, although to be honest Winchesters seem to be hard to fault for bunny bashing!
