Big day on Peas

A good pal of mine had been watching a pea field on his permission gradually build and he decided to shoot on Tues. (Very fortunate as he has no other decoyers to worry about) He asked a friend he owed a favour to shoot with him. They didn't set up until 2.30pm with no birds on the field. Started slowly but as the afternoon went on, so did the pigeons start to come. They responded brilliantly to the whirly and flapper. He said between 6-8pm the traffic was continuous, but only 1s and 2s. They packed in at 8.45 and picked 161.

With better shooting from his pal (So he says!) auto jams and the whirly battery dying at 7pm they should have had 250ish. A very useful day.

He looked at the field yesterday and there was over 500 back on. Hope he invites me this time!

nice to see that the birds are about, and a good bag, took my friend rick to a farm where spring rape is, birds flying all over, both set rotors up and a few shells, the wind made it more difficult, the rolling hills all so changes the gust to make it even harder, but that is the fun of it,we both had a brilliant 6 hours and shoot 110 :) cheers mick
