casts_by_fly
I can speak to the cherokee of that vintage generally (i have the 3.7 petrol). Road biased- not at all. In low lock 4 it will crawl out of any hole you find yourself in. Ground clearance is good. I have gone through some pretty rutted tracks and not scraped. I'm not green laning it, but i would be happy to on some lanes unmodified. Common faults- the interior heater blower resistors go fairly often. It is a 10 minute fix with a $25 part with good instructions available online. The transmissions are built very well as are the transfer cases and drive shafts. The interiors are fine (depending on the spec level) and i have no complaints on mine. I wish the back end was a little bigger. It is enough for 2 dogs or plenty of gear and it is much bigger than a jimny or vitara, but i would like the interior of something a little bigger. Have a read through jeep kj forums and you'll see how much the guys there love them. I would love to put a mild 3" lift on mine, but it doesn't need it and it would be tough in this country. Thanks Rick
