Used to be until I smashed my collar bone and flayed almost all of the skin down to flesh on my left side 14 miles into a 30 mile ride which resulted in a very emotional and painful self casevac (I was too embarrassed to call Mnt Rescue). I never really got back into it after that and have a Cannondale (Lefty) Prophet 800 in my shed that's waiting to be sold. Can't really remember much about springs. I just got on and rode to be honest.

I would say don't skimp on a helmet. It probably saved me from serious head injury.

This was my Saracen myst that was more of a trail bike but when the norco was out of action I took it on an uplift day and it was still a suburb bike, at one stage I had about 4 grand in 2 bikes. I lived for it.

Springs, Springs, your having a laugh. Hard tail man. springs are a pain in the Ar.... I tried to switch but couldn't handle it. but then neither could the body as its all broke now. smashes the cr.. out the shoulders, wrists and knees, ankles are only just holding in there. 10 plus years hitting the drops put pay to it all. i then found parakart racing and buggy freestyle and it all started going wrong again. thats all in the past now as this body past its sell by date and they will not change it.

What make is the rear shock? The manufacturers websites used to have a simple calculator on it somewhere....

Like most above, I used to but no more. Hurts to much!

UK centres, out to the Alps, Megavalanche (best race in the world!)...even as far as Whistler BC and South Korea. That's when I found out for the first time our American brethren have the brakes on opposite sides to us. Locked up the "back" brake and it was like someone pressed an eject button.

Eventually sold my Spesh BigHit to fund shooting, and left now with a Spesh Enduro for somewhat tamer days in the saddle.

cheers guys i ordered a 350 think thats what i need or so the calculator says, i was into my mx for a good few years, a ankle and knee injure stoped that! ive been riding a hardtail xc bike as par of my physio for 2 years. my ankle and knee is good now so i asked the wife about another mx bike and it ain't gonna happen (14 month in 2.5yrs layed up at home she said) so downhill is as close to mx as i can get.

looking forward to getting out on it should be good fun, nice and steady to start with. well maybe!!!! thanks
