wabbits8
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong. Just bought 3 legged gun rest & tried it out on target/pellet catcher at 20yds. But not hit the target at all,but freestanding artillery hold is within 2 inch of the bull. Whats wrong.?
Marcusfisher123
If you put the rest on your barrel it will lift it a bit so when you shoot at some thing it will go straight over the top. What you should do is put the rest on the fore end so it wont lift your barrel.
turbo33
I guess its a springer? They are very hold sensitive and changing the way you support the forend will change the poi. If you are resting the barrel on the stand, then matters will be 100% worse. Try and stick with gently cupping the forend and stick with the same procedure. Hope this helps. Springers take a great deal more skill to use than a pcp, which is why I don't use a springer
moorvale55
Sounds like a springer. You need to rest your arm or hand on the gun rest and then rest the gun on your hand. If you rest a springer directly onto any type of rest the shots will go anywhere.
wabbits8
Thanks everybody, but just to clarify, Aluminium legs are 132 cmtrs high with rubber feet & 3/4 inch of webbing pulled tight across the top to rest springer Gamo whisper .22 with fitted silencer. Should I make sure that the very end of barrel (silencer) is rested in webbing? Thanks for any advice anybody wishes to send. Wabbits for ever! JKD
Hi fella, I think you've missed the main point as stated in all of the replies above. You mustn't rest or touch the barrel or moderator on anything. The gun's fore-end [front of stock] should be used for resting/supporting during the shot. This counts for PCP's [and all other rifles/guns] as well. HTH
wabbits8
Thats good advice, but still being a bit of a novice I'm green about the gills. Thanks to JKD for clarifying things for me. I will try that tomorrow hopefully. Cheers.
