jgguinness
Hi all. After a bit of advice on my first air rifle strip down. Stripped down a HW50 that I recently acquired for my son. I bought it knowing that it wasn't working correctly. Spring seamed weak when cocking, and wouldn't fire a pellet. On stripping it, the spring guide was very tight in the tube and had to be encouraged to come out. Should they be easy to remove? I note a nylon version is now available. Also the spring isn't the straightest, is this common? Cheers Jonathan
jgguinness
Well the new spring arrived this morning from T W Chambers, along with a new breech seal and the correct screw for the rear of the trigger guard (a p.o had used a wood screw!!). Can't fault Chambers service, very fast delivery, next day! The piston seal isn't leather, so must have been replaced at somepoint. The differences in springs was quite remarkable! Got it put back together this afternoon, only put 3 pellets through it when something came up, so tomorrow morning will see how it goes, but worked well so far!
