djgeoff
my mate ron and i decided to have a bash on this pea stubble field, as we enter field in car, pigeon all over it. i set up under an oak tree which is out of camera shot i (picture with mate in) the tree was the other side of the borage on left of image. i put rotary up on edge of borage and stubble then scattered 8 plastic decoys around it , no pattern to just left gaps between them.... worked like a charm, they were diving at them from silly heights, 90% were fast birds took me a little while to get on them. within 15mins i had changed the plastic deeks for dead pigeon and the decoy pattern just got bigger and bigger as the day went on. ron was up the field on the right, pigeon were coming from all sides, i took swivel seat but ended up standing all the time ( which i prefer) did not have time to take a drink, the minute you took your eye from field pigeon were on you again. they were coming in nice groups of approx 15-20 every 8 mins or so. really could have done with two guns my end one covering left and one right of this tree i was under, i managed to get two nice pairs both 180 degrees apart, had three driven come and joined me in the hide. to be honest i lost count of pigeon after 35, but i picked up 45 from field as you can see, there were a lot i could not find in the borage and a lot went into field behind me which we were not allowed into, some made it to near by trees then fell into ditch and under growth never to be seen again. ron said he picked 54 up from field but actually brought down 65, and as he was watching my shooting he said you brought well over what did i would guess you had at least 80 ish, oh yeh i had one crow as well. so in 2hrs hours we estimate 150 ish and 1 crow
