RGS77
At this time of year the humble woodie has no need to feed all day for the energy to stay warm, so you will tend to find you get a good hour or two's feeding from first light, easily missed if you’re not getting to the field until the pigeons are already there. After this morning feed the pigeons will go and sit in trees or out on grassy fields enjoying the sunshine and generally conserving energy while they digest their breakfast. Then after lunch they will start to trickle back on to their current feeding fields, with the greatest influx being the 2 hours before they go to roost. Again a full crop before bed being the goal. Unless you are happy sitting and watching the world go by as I believe most of us are, you can go home or elsewhere during this low period. Once the colder weather is with us again in just a few week, the pigeons will need to extend their feeding times to ensure their energy levels and fat stores stay up, so they can make it through the cold winter. Also with this in mind as the winter draws nearer the food types they are getting to eat have less calories in them so again more regular feeding is needed to sustain the desired intake. I hope this helps, in short I have defo found it useful to be there before first light at this time of the year.

Sat happily until 730 and the birds came in steady until about 9:30 then i packed up and came home. Finished with 9 birds as im not taking longer shots yet as im still getting to grips with my new gun. Paul
