NickB65
My new battered, rusty and slightly worn HW97k Mk 1 drew its first blood tonight bagging 13 feral pigeons and a few Doves. I was invited by a friend to shoot hem as they are over run with them and their droppings are a health hazard..... White Doves are nice and look cute but they still leave droppings all over the place just like feral Pigeons and if the Lady of the manor wants them gone then I am happy to oblige. When I arrived I counted 30+ white doves, the same feral and similar woodies. The droppings where in the stables, on the horses, horse rugs and in places where over 1cm deep. Now the stables are under new management and if I can keep the numbers down the droppings will be less of a hazard and a few white doves will remain for that picturesque look. In one barn they just sat there as I shot their mates until after three had dropped they got the message. The stables is right next to two large chicken sheds each holding over 54,000 chickens so I expected a lot of rats..... not a single one. No droppings nothing.... I then looked closer and in nooks and crannies there are bags of blue grain and the owner confirmed that a chap comes every week and moves the bags around - sometimes they are blue, purple or pink to donate the poison type..... Most stables have loads of rats and mice but thanks to this chap I could not find a single dropping....... ** The stable manager called the following morning and although some doves and ferals had returned there was no longer the host sat on the roof in a line. I will go back later in the week to check on the numbers. **
