cjm
Anyone got one of these and could tell me if they are any good or to be avoided. Are they really waterproof etc?
bicykillgaz
Can't comment on the jack Pyke one but soft shell in General is ok for the first few washes then goes from waterproof to showerproof. You can get various potions to wash it in which is meant to prolong/restore the waterproofing but but it's about £10 a time, I've never bothered 10 washes is a new jacket! I've owned a soft shell jacket and trousers made by regatta for about 5-6 years now and there still showerproof but if your kneeling or laying on wet ground it comes through. I would buy a shooting jacket in soft shell as I don't go out if it's peeing it down so it would be fine, it's nice and quiet and more breathable than any of the membrane infused materials generally used in shooting jackets.
