A touch of good fortune...

Having had a few slow days recently shooting flightlines, I've been thinking to getting a flapper to try and boost my pattern appeal, and happened to mention it to a fella in the pub the other day, who is a retired gamekeeper. He immediately offered to sell me two of his as it turns out he is giving up the pigeon game.

To be honest I wasn't quite sure what to expect, or how old they might be likely to be!...But nonetheless out of politeness, I said I'd take a look.... Next evening he turns up with an A1Turbo Flapper (the cradle sort) with a remote control unit, practically new by the look of it, and another one of the "box with three arms" style, with a random timer. Also two 12v batteries, a Debden charger and telescopic bouncer pole.

A quick car park test proved all was in good working order.

"What did you want for it then Jim?" I asked.

"Fifty quid the lot"......

"OK then" says I, after thinking about it for all of two seconds.

So then we went back in and had a pint, and I got something like 40 year's worth of advice on the art of decoying.

........You gotta love your local !
