spudmini
hi all I have a midland gun company side by side 12, it was my granddads gun which I inherited along with another side by side. The gun is loose on its face, has pitting in the barrels and is in overall poor condition. what I would like to know if there is any value in the gun or just to have it destroyed. I would hate to see it destroyed as it has sentimental value, on the other hand I cant use it and im trying to downsize my gun collection. and opinions please. JohnfromUK
If it has sentimental value, is it worth (to you) having deactivated. Not sure what this costs, but sentimental value may make it worthwhile to you.
spudmini
I not that sentimental, it would just be a shame, on another note I have just been told that the shoot lodge my boss owns was robbed last night, a large quantity of paintings depicting shooting and hunting scenes, and a large number of heads and stuffed animals were stolen, cant imagine its a massive market and there is a nice reward. so if any one is offered or hears of any sales of such items, any info is welcomed, a long shot I know but he is devastated. Chris Bb
If it's in that poor a condition is may be illegal to sell it. You can, however, give it away. I'd go for deactivating it but that's going to cost you or the next owner about £100. Pity to see it destroyed.
Gunman
Take it to a competent gunsmith who is used to dealing with English guns for a check and appraisal. Wont be worth a fortune even if in good nick but might be worth spending s bob or two on and you may even get you money back if you want to sell it on if it is worth doing any work on .
