Paul223
How's it bad advice If the clutch is slipping this will prove it Are you experienced in this subject??? Where does it say the clutch is slipping? The problem is the opposite, the clutch is struggling to disengage! Pedal at the floor
DannyNCC
It's about ruling things out without just replacing parts left right and centre
Paul223
It's about ruling things out without just replacing parts left right and centre ? So we'll try to destroy the clutch to see if it slips even when the problem is not the clutch slipping, yeah that's cost effective, if the op has described the symptoms correctly I'd lay a wager on the problem being the master cylinder

NIGHT SEARCHER
This is terrible advice Plus + 1 on that. How's it bad advice If the clutch is slipping this will prove it Are you experienced in this subject? ?? 2500 rpm and dump the clutch thats a very good way to destroy or damage major parts. Like the gearbox. Transfer box. propeller shafts. Differential. Snapping Half shafts. And yes loads of Experience 40 years has a Machanic. Does anything get broken 40+ years as a mechanic and you think that your gear box transfere box prop diff and half shafts are going to blow up cause you do as I said Sounds like 40 years too long to me
Paul223
Sorry fella but I have to disagree. Back in 1989 and working as an apprentice I managed to snap a half shaft on a Bedford tk 7.5 ton truck, just by letting the clutch up to quick whilst not letting the handbrake off quick enough........ Bedford half shafts are, it would seem, made of cheese, don't think the rev and let loose test is the sort of thing I've ever done, or would want to, sounds a bit to a amateurish way to 'check' a clutch doesn't slip
Paul223
Auto stall test is nothing like the same, engine load is built up rather than dumped through
