Fisherman Mike
Hi Guys… I have to try and clean out the heater matrix on my sons clio this weekend it’s pretty badly gunked up and although I did flush it last year with a little success it still hardly gets warm. I don’t want to replace it because it’s a pig of a job stripping out the dash, consul, steering wheel, sterio, fascia etc etc to get to it. Is there a product I can buy which I can fill it with and leave it overnight to work away and loosen the carp inside before jetting or blowing it out again…. Something like a HD descaler..?? Thanks as always FM
Paul223
If there is a little flow have you tried connecting to a garden hose and leave it run for a bit Usually they're full of red brown rusty carp and giving a full system flush can lead to leaks
brett1985
washing powder, non bio leave in the heater matrix overnight, then flush out the following day with a hose. worked for me! lol alternatively, forte degreaser used in the same way. TaxiDriver
Reverse the feed to the heater matrix if possible simply by switching the in & out hoses around. You can get flushing agents, then when refilling use a good quality anti freeze/summer coolant

First started using in when the oil coolers were failing on the astra 1.7dti. Works a treat. Karpman
Richard.Hosgood
Had a focus with the same, found that the pipe feeding the matrix was also crudded right up, so I gave the whole system a proper blast through with the hose pipe, reverse flushed it, and repeated numerous times. That solved it.
snippy
hi get some caustic soda drain cleaner but be very careful put 250 grams in a pint of hot water it will get very thermic and get very hot then add it to the cooling system and run it at fast idle for about 20 minutes and then flush with clean water several times to remove it
sharp shot
Hi Take the heater pipes of the engine & use a red hot get wash on low pressure on one of the hose pipes & vise versa for around ten minutes....
