SSS
Plenty of the chaps on here have made home brew night vision setups very successfully, but has anyone made one for a centre fire rifle yet? Someone must have had a go.
mick miller
Eh? What's the difference? Mine works fine on my 243 too, and I get a very usable 300 yards on x10. Does that answer your question?

SSS
I wasn't sure about range Mick. The posts I have read have mostly useable to 75 yards and the likes. I wasn't sure whether the camera would stand up to a battering from a cf rifle too. Cheers bikemad, I'll look now.
mick miller
When I say 300 yards I'm being very conservative. In reality mine works out beyond 500, but to claim that you face the criticism of folk that know less. Recoil isn't an issue, everything is extremely securely mounted within a case, it's not held together with laccy bands.
evo
totally agree with mick, but if I,m correct in saying mick uses a red beam, using an IR the distances are considerably shorter but seeing and shooting quarry to over 100 yrds is more than possible as long as the camera can see the IR which is the biggest hurdle in my opinion good luck with it atb Evo Edited November 29, 2013 by evo

SSS
Does it work well with a normal lamp and ir filter? Maybe that's something to look into to save a few more quid
mick miller
What's a normal lamp? If you're thinking a CREE led and IR filter, forget it. Lightforce maybe, but why bother? The Lightforce is old hat now, who wants to tramp around with a light the size of a car headlamp?
