totally agree with mick, but if I,m correct in saying mick uses a red beam, using an IR the distances are considerably shorter but seeing and shooting quarry to over 100 yrds is more than possible as long as the camera can see the IR which is the biggest hurdle in my opinion

What's a normal lamp? If you're thinking a CREE led and IR filter, forget it. Lightforce maybe, but why bother? The Lightforce is old hat now, who wants to tramp around with a light the size of a car headlamp?

I was thinking a clulite lamp, simply because I already have one. All I would have to buy is a filter.

just finished building my rig using the kpc e700pub board camera my god what a quality camera that is coupled with dave g ir torch I can see further than I could ever shoot with my rimfire rifles
