Sean Richo
Just wanted to see if anybody can help by giving some information on some clubs. Am currently on waiting lists for the Dee and Frodsham hoping to maybe join next season. I understand the first season is mainly learning about the marshes and about the rules, tides, quarry and laws etc and don't expect to do much shooting just want to learn all I can first season so I can be a competent wildfowler. My questions are once you are a full member and been through the probationary period (at least one season) is there a limit on how many times you can shoot in a season and can you shoot the marshes on a Sunday as I know it is not against the law in these areas as only certain counties are part of the act that was signed years ago but do the clubs specify you can't shoot on a Sunday. Also anybody know how much the Dee annual membership is roughly any info on these clubs would be great. Many thanks.
Wildfowler12
Probation members can have 12 visits per year in Frodsham, full members can shoot twice in any 7-day period, and as you said, Sunday fowling is permitted in the area. Sean Richo
Thanks for information anybody got any information on the Dee regarding number of visits etc and shooting on Sundays. The other thing is with the Dee you have to be accompanied on ten visits if you don't know anybody how do you get them to take you out and also are full members willing to do this on a regular basis. Dee Wildfowler
There are no visit limits for the Dee and we shoot on Sundays. The probationary scheme is described on our website www.deewildfowlers.co.uk and probationary members are provided with mentors who will take them out during their probationary time. kent
You can do plenty in your first year on the Dee but you have to put yourself about, like John says no limit on total visits but you are limited on re-visits to certain areas (frankly nobody wants someone finding the birds then battering them every flight for a week if they keep coming). Were you are based just stick to the Dee and Frodsham further north into the bay etc. you will find things too costly in fuel and too hard to get through into full membership status

xav
He probably means that it's no point trying to join Southport, Preston (waiting list are endless) or even to a lesser extent Morecombe (7 year waiting list I think). I'm a member of the Dee Wildfowlers; it's a fantastic club with a great variety of marshes.
Sean Richo
Ok would be interested in what any other past or present members think about the club. Spoke to a couple of lads who used to be members a long time ago but said they lost a lot of land to RSPB in recent years but I always find people's opinions on things so different. It does look like a good club am looking forward to finding out more about it.
kent
I am a member of Dee and others along the NWest coast. Just stick with the Dee, it offers much as a club. When your Wildfowling you want to be in position before break of light, Do you honestly want to spend another £30 on fuel a trip and get out another 1 1/2 hrs earlier in the morning to make the drive? Going North of you there is Southport, Preston, Lytham, Morecambe bay, West Moorland, Grange. IMO although I am also a member of a few of the above Dee and Frodsham give you the best opportunities based were you are. Besides this its a big advantage to be able to get over regular just to scout out what is were and when things are just right to come home from work and just go last minute.
