bladeage1
Hello people, After a long break from field sport (stopped at 20 yrs old now 36!) I am finding that lots has changed in air gun law and just going out there to shoot! I got a call from my mate wanting to sell me his weirauch hw80k (fired 7 pellets) with scope and silencer for 130 quid, naturally, thinking back to my teens and my Sharpinova (pump), I went and brought it from him. I am now beginning to see all sorts of prob's in getting somewhere to shoot, I don't see a problem with having to get the permission but am finding it difficult to find someone to give me the permission to shoot on their land etc. As a last ditched attempt I am going to write a very 'responsible' letter to all the local surrounding farms in and around Derbyshire/south Yorkshire. I feel Air gunners on the whole (in my absence) have received a fair bit of bad press/report resulting in farmers/land owners not wanting responsibility for them. Any advice on where togo shoot or any of the above greatly received! Regards, ........Paul........

Lord Geordie
Rather than letters call to the farms in person (try to think when to catch the farmer he will be busy most of the day) Dress casual and be respectful don't just blurt out (can i shoot on your land) Introduce yourself formally and perhaps appologise for taking up his time etc. If you have seen Rabbits or pigeons hiting his crops let him know and THEN tell him if he needs a hand you are more than willing to help out. Let him know your Local your insured and you have done this kind of thing in the past etc. Also if you know the PUB he drinks in just sidle over one evening and start a conversation -buy him a drink etc and get talking. There are a few ways to go about it. Biggest bit of advice I can give is NEVER GIVE IN. It took me YEARS before i got my first permission. Now i have lost his number i will have to go back and have a word again LG
