stevewall968
Hi guys Brother in law lives on a farm and is looking for a 22 air rifle with a nightsight scope for dealing with a rat infestation problem. Anyone got any advice as to what's the best combination and vfm to look for? I'm a shot gunner myself but don't know a lot about the world of air guns. Any help appreciated. Thanks Steve
keg
I use my 22rf on one farm but air arms always get a a good review. I have a Ward D vision which is excellent for night shooting.
bullet boy
Hi Steve, in a Rat Shooting situation ideally I would recommend a good Multi-shot Pneumatic rifle in .22 for Rats for more knock-down power IMO. Rifles that I would recommend is either an Air Arms S410 or Daystate Huntsman Classic(both have 10 shot rotary magazine systems)and dependant on your budget as the Daystate is dearer. Both are superb rifles. Apparently the new Yukon Photon 5x42 nightscope is ideal for Rat Shooting but I've yet to see one work in the flesh but reviews of the scope are very good. ATB. .philmypower.
I've heard bad things about the Yukon. I've just had to buy a air rifle with nv set up for rats as my 22rf was too powerfull on the farm yard. I have a brocock contour which is really light with a ns200 nv setup. Zetter
Also I would check out the pitch back night vision system which best fittings sell. It does look a bit odd but if you can get over having what looks like a VHS cassette stuck on the rifle its really good. A friend just bough one for ratting on his .25 cal Scorpion and I was mightily impressed for the money. Gun wise as above any multishot PCP would fit the bill doesn't have to cost the earth but Multishot is better as you don't want to be fumbling about for pellets in the dark.
