.58 caliber Shotgun Private Seller

Hammer, -, -, 24" barrels

Description

Selling on behalf of a friend. £240 ONO. Bought from Skipton gun room in the summer, its in very well cared for condition, always been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, and to my knowledge it has never misfired. Extremely reliable gun in .58 caliber which equates to just shy of a 20 bore shotgun. Had a few eventful days on the pigeons in the summer while decoying. Will go on your shotgun certificate. Will RFD at buyers expense of £40.

The gun is in very good condition. very slight, what my friend describes as surface rust in the barrel, no pitting, the inside of the barrel is smooth and shiny. One of the ramrod tubes has a slight ding in it, which was pulled out but is still visible. Similar to the one shown in the link.

The guy who sold it to Skipton guns who had it previously was a jeweler and therefore when my friend bought it, it was in practically new condition, and so my friend had used it minimally due to mainly being a practical shooter for food, and tried his best to keep it in good condition.

I am concerned about the surface rust inside DW....Has he used pyrodex? And if so how does he clean and what oil does he use?

Bit confused as your saying he is saying it is smooth and shiny but has surface rust :hmm:

Sorry about sounding fussy but I am fussy about my front stuffers as you know matey!

will get you some pictures tonight.

he has used pyrodex after every use the cleaning method has been as follows

first filling up a large bucket with boiling water and fairy liquid followed by placing the gun in the water nipple first so it is submerged then using a cleaning rod with jags wrapped tight to the bore and using a plunging motion drawing water up the barrel through the nipple repeatedly until water runs clean from the nipple then dry rag is used and rammed down the bore and withdrawn to ensure the bore is dry and clean following this vegetable oil has been used to prevent rust the lock is also wiped down with detergent then oiled this is how it has been cleaned every time i have seen him clean it it has not been used in some time and has been left in the cabinet the original bore finish is visible as when my friend got it the inside of the barrel was still factory blued this bluing has deteriorated due to the lack of use and long period of storage i don't know how else to describe it will try and take some pictures as best we can manage tonight but i still rate the gun as being in particularly good condition hopefully its something you will be interested in as i know my friend is tight for cash at the moment

cheers
