Carrying Rabbits

Lets just say your out ferreting on your own, you've got to carry

Ferret Box

Bag of nets

Spade

and you have got yourself half a dozen rabbits.

They are really awkward to carry. we only have two hands. Some people carry them in bags, but sometimes getting over dykes can be awkward with them

And another instance, your out lamping, You got a dozen rabbits, same problem.

So what I use, and I swear by them, Leggers!!!!

I make my own simply by getting 8-9inch of 2" thick nylon webbing. A length of Nylon braid draw cord or parachute cord. Knot 5-6 loops (not slip knots) then pop a hole in your webbing push the spare end of draw cord through and tie it to the other end. Do the same on the other side of the webbing. The webbing is your shoulder strap, now all you do is, when you get a rabbit you make a slip loop with one of your knotted loops and stick the rabbits back leg through it, let the knot slide and there you go..... I'll get some pictures up soon!!!

I dunno weather you lads have came across these before, but they are cushty!

Instead of taking a bag off from over your shoulder and getting over a dyke then picking it up again, just take you "legger" off ur shoulder and ur away!!

Same thing can be done for those who shoot deer! But use bigger loops!

Also u lads that go lamping with dogs, what type of slip lead do you use? A quick-release lead, or a length of nylon webbing? One lad i go out with uses the quick-release type leads, but I now prefer just putting a collar on the dog, a piece of 1" thick nylon webbing with a hand loop stiched on on end, thread the other end thru the collar, and keep hold of it, just let go of the loose end when you want to slip!

(i'll get sum pictures of my Leggers up soon)
