sarol
Hi there. I like to keep control of my used cases (take them home for desposal). I also like to load each round straight in to the rifle not using the mag. As in the past some cases have not loaded cleanly and have lost track of how many shots taken. Having a spare plastic mag, using a junior hacksaw I cut the case retaining ears off the top and removed the internals too leave it empty. so now I still load each round one at a time but when cycling the bolt I put my hand over the ejection port. The spent case then drops in to the empty mag. it can hold about 8 if they land flat. Thought this might be of interest.
kent
That sounds like it could go wrong. To retain brass in sensitive locations I have seen many a brass catcher made that fits on the side of the action on a mag fed rifle. My mate always runs one on the side of his CZ 455 made from a bit of plastic coated wire as the frame and a bit of aquarium netting for the bag. Why is it you like to avoid a mag? seems to me an older single shot target rifle (which can be had for a song) might make you the ideal rifle shortened, moderated and sporterised in the stock? Nearly bought a BSA martini a while back and did the same for a fully moderated single shot for night use, though its too much hassle pleading the case for another .22 lr with the cops and I do just fine with my existing mag fed
