Matt Gould
hello every one I would just like to here from experienced pigeon shooters about pigeons magnets.... what I would like to know is basically when is the best time of the year to use them, what weather conditions are best for them windy,still..... ( how fast would I set it during these conditions) how close would I set my dead birds/shells to the magnet, how low/high should I set the arms should I give the birds a slight tilt, when would you leave it at home and just take bouncers or flappers................ obviously most of this is trial and error but thought someone would share their experiences
fenboy
For me the faster the better , I tilt birds inwards slightly , they will work at anytime of year but are very effective once there are lots of young birds about . The only time I rarely use one is on fresh drillings as I think the decoys stand out well enough on their own

It initially draws them in, then, at about 65 yards away, they see that it is a magnet and pull away. So, there is a case for setting up well (30-40 yds??) behind you and ambushing them before they catch on. All you need is a hedge to hide in at the right place, the wind in the right direction, a feeding field in the right place, and the birds to cooperate!! SIMPLES!! NB Always leave a landing zone in front of (upwind)the magnet
