kent
Yeah. thanks don't see them everyday. How hard is it to sort cases etc.?
four bore
YES I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER, I HAD THE BRASS CASES MADE, AND THE IGNITION SYSTEM I MAKE UP MYSELF ITS A BIT FIDDELY BUT WHEN ITS DONE NO PROBLEM AT ALL . YOU ONLY HAVE TO CHANGE THE CAP AND LOAD IT UP AGAIN. [ ITS BEEN VERY RELIABLE AFTER A FEW TEETHING PROBLEMS. ] THE BLACK PLASTIC CASES I REMOVE THE RIM AND USE THE SAME IGNITION SYSTEM, THE CASES ARE QUITE EASY TO FIND. kent
I think the Pinfire lasted longer on the continent? I have never had hands on on one personally
strangford wildfowler
Very interesting. It also looks very well maintained. Do you use black powder?
Grandalf
I have an English double 12 pin-fire wall hanger. Don't think it would ever go through proof or be safe. Looks nice in the dining room though. Damascus barrels are thin as rice-paper
aister
Excellent. I have seen and handled a pinfire but never shot one. Well done
four bore
YES THE PIN FIRE WAS MORE POPULAR ON THE CONTINENT, ESPECIALLY FRANCE WHERE YOU CAN STILL GET A VARIETY OF CASES.ITS IN GREAT ORIGONAL CONDITION, THE MAKER IS JOHN LYELL ABERDEEN WITH A 50 " BARREL AND WEIGHS JUST SHORT OF 13 LBS. ALL YOU CAN USE IN PINFIRES IS BLACK POWDER. YOU DO GET A FEW PINFIRES ON WALLS, SADLY THEY WERE USED AND NOT CLEANED VERY OFTEN AND RESULTED IN THIN BARREL WALLS.AISTER, YES ARE GREAT TO SHOOT AND DOES WHAT YOU WANT HELD STRAIGHT. A BIT OF MESSING TO LOAD THE CASES BUT ONCE LOADED THEIR FINE, MAYBE SOMETIME YOU WILL SEE IT......... B)
