Ballie
Hi guys, I think I am right in saying that you can’t load bullets for anyone else. I used to re-load all my own but then lost my land to shoot on so I sold all my re-loading kit etc, however I am now back into the sport but don't really want to buy all the re-loading kit again. Is there anyway or anywhere I can get some bullets loaded to my spec legally?
Dunkield
As long as you have an FAC covering the calibre you can buy rounds from someone else who has loaded them. It's whether you trust them or not, that may be the issue Unless anyone wants to contradict that?
rarms
I think they have to have had the load proof tested in order to be able to 'sell' the load. If they were 'giving' you the rounds then that should be ok as long as you have permission to aquire.
mry716
Actually the law has changed (late 2005). The relevant Act is the new Explosives Act entitled The Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations. Until this Act came into force it was illegal (despite what some may say) to load ammunition for anyone else unless you were a registered factory. Now, however, the way I read the legislation I feel there is sufficient leeway for us to load for someone else. In order to establish the principle and ensure I stay on the right side of the law I requested that the Police write to me with their interpretation of the Home Office’s advice. The relevant section of their reply was as follows:- ......"My understanding is that you may now load small quantities on ammunition for others without the need for a HSE factory licence. This is described in The Manufacture and Storage of Explosives Regulations 2005. Regulation 9 (2)(b ) - as long as the total quantity of propellant used does not exceed 2 kilograms at any one time, and for these purposes the quantity of propellant includes propellant removed from cartridges.â€â€¦â€¦â€¦ I trust this assists in answering your question. Ballie
Thanks MRY716, It seems that you are answering all my posts. All I need to do now is find someone local (Thetford, Norfolk) to load me some rounds to my spec. Just in case anyone is wondering how I have a spec with out having my own re-loading kit, it is because I had a number of home loads left from the days when I used to load my own, they where actually loaded to suit my old PSS custom built Remington, but when I tried them in my T3 Tikka they shoot very tight groups, much better than the factory federal’s

DaveK
Just a thought although I agree with Mary (always do as he's bigger than me)....... A round isn't complete until the bullet has been pressed into the case. Ergo ..... someone could do all but the seating with you completing the process and, therefore, you would be finishing the manufacture
