luckytrigger
Those guys were lucky! thats some serious bullet proof glass! i guess the round it stopped was the 7.62x39 fired by the early ak47 series of rifles?
Baldrick
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I recall that Level 3 armoured glass can withstand a sustained attack from 7.62 x 51mm NATO ball. Whilst the Russian 7.62 x 39mm ball round has somewhat lower muzzle energy than the NATO round, the crafty Russian snipers also had access to steel core ammunition, which make far lighter work of paltry obstacles like armoured glass and body armour. Chances are that the 'sniper' who shot at the armoured glass in the vid was guy with an ak. A 'sniper' doesnt always mean its a guy using a dedicated sniper rifle like a Dragunov. Baldrick
I thought that too, LT, I would bet he's just an opportunist who's handy with iron sights. If he had been a trained sniper using a Dragunov, I doubt he would have jeopardised his position/safety/ammunition stock by shooting at a well-armoured OP. He would have waited for a more profitable moment.

SPARKIE
but dont ya think if it was a sniper he could of placed anouther into the glasswhile they were still thereas i dont think the glass would take anouther hitand dont snipers relocate after 1 shot
Baldrick
Sparkie, I doubt very much that it was a sniper. If it was, and he was within 600 yards of the OP, using a Dragunov/Pilad combo, yes, he should be able to drop round after round through that window. Between 600-1000 yards his chances are markedly reduced, with a weapon like that. Snipers don't necessarily relocate after one shot. It depends on a myriad range of factors, namely his cover, and the success of the initial shot.
