HDAV
Look down the barrel from bead along the rib in a straight line across the top lever and along the top of the comb of the stock . Not along the underside . i have often found it more prominent along underside due to more cast at toe rather than at comb..... pitch, it is possible for a stock to be cast off at comb and on at toe due to pitch. Gunman
HDAV that's why when cast is measured it is set along the comb ,looking along the underside can be misleading as you have an indeterminate cant on the stock that can be from zero to a 1/4". That's how Gunmakers measure and set cast so I can only advise this as the correct way .

If you have the ability to measure it thats great, always found it more obvious looking along the underside perhaps its just brownings but having compared 2 30" 525's one cast on and cast off next to each other it was easier to pick them apart by looking down the underside. Not conclusive but best way i have found... Found plenty labelled wrong on dealers racks.....
