Pair off big Dogs!

Last night we decided to have a little walk around the farm just after last light (not expecting to see anything).

Half an hour into our walk we spotted a pair of eyes a couple of fields out, after slowly creeping through the first field we still couldn't tell if it was a fox or a deer. We squeaked for 5 minutes, the eyes hadn't moved and showed no reaction to the squeaking, I was sure it had to be a deer. We decided to try and get closer so we set of slowly through the next field heading for a pylon, we got to the pylon and switched on the lamp, the eyes were still there and low and behold it was a fox with it's head just showing out of a fold in the ground. Just as Colin was about to take the shot the fox moved back into the dead ground, we scanned all around us for a couple of minutes then I spotted a pair of eyes across the gully in a gorse bush, Colin looking through the scope thought it was a rabbit but with a couple of tutts and a hey! the fox poked its head up and bang! No 1 down.

We crossed the gully and found a big Dog Fox witch looked like it been lying up in the gorse bush for a little while.

We went back across the gully and carried on, we had only walked 50yrds when we crested a rise in the field and another set of eyes were looking our way, Colin quickly mounted the rifle on his sticks and I switched the lamp back on, he was still there in the middle of the field about 120yrds out, Colin found him with the sights and No 2 was down, another big Dog Fox.

A night we didn't think we would see anything turned out to be one of the best nights we have had for a few years.

Happy Days :):):):):)!
