lakeside1000
Well its here again, our clay club, Blofield heath two friends club, named after the local pub where we used to meet is closing for the summer, the club only runs from October to march as the land owner has other activities on the land through the summer. We are a very small but very friendly club and meet every Sunday to shoot 50 clays and have a natter, I find as a pigeon shooter , blasting a few clays every week sharpens my reflexes and my aim, which in turn increases my kill rate whenever I do go after the birds. The really nice thing about the club is there is such a friendly atmosphere, if someone shoots well they get loads of praise, if they shoot badly, there is always someone to offer advice , when I first joined two seasons ago, I had only just come back into shooting after a 35 year break, I couldn't hit the side of a barn, but with all the help and encouragement from the lads, I've really upped my game and now enjoy every meet, so its sad for me that I wont be able to enjoy my regular Sunday morning again until October, Don't get me wrong, there are lots of other grounds locally, that I could shoot at, but they are not the same, with them you pay your money , shoot your clays and go home, there just isn't that camaraderie that you get with a group of friends. See you Sunday lads.
V8 90
Surely you & your regular comrades could shoot at 1 of the local grounds & enjoy each other's banter & "words of encouragement" - alternatively have you looked around for a summer venue ? lakeside1000
I think everyone does their 'own thing' through the summer and just enjoy the winter months that much more, I have a couple of local shooting grounds , one in Great Yarmouth and one just up the road in Ormesby, so if I feel the need I can pop in and bust a few , but I normally just concentrate on the pigeons and crows, especially around sewing and harvest times. And I have the start in October to look foward to,
