steveyg
Set the alarm for 5.30 this morning...couldn't sleep (to excited about going shooting..sad old gxt) so set off just after 5am. This perm is a 2hr 20min round trip..but defo worth the effort..anyway after driving around the 3,000+ acres couldn't find anything.. Got a call from my mate Dando..."steve where are you...there's a 100+ on the beans"...I was two fields away..so was there in 2 mins. this looks promising I thought... set up..nothing for an hour...we moved...nothing..we moved again and we could see 150++++ on the adjacent field...we do not have permission... this field is newly drilled beans...same as ours yet they were all over it. We had a call from a shooter we know who has permission for the next field...he kindly drove down and tried to move the pigeons...he did.. but they still never decoyed...they knew where they wanted to be and it wasn't out field. We changed the pattern, magnet, flapper, floater so many times to try and entice them over to us...not interested we finished the day on 2 crows and eight pigeons...one red nose from the sun and I lost my favourite shooting cap with all the moving around. do I regret going...no way..I love pigeon shooting We had a great picnic if nothing else..frustrating but what a gorgeous day..one day it will come right.... cheers Dando...happy retirement..and enjoy your new Gun.!!!
