superspark
Well that's a good one. It would depend on who you intend to send out your letters too. If the farmer can see how far away you live it might be the difference between him/her phoning you. If you live to far away or you don't put your address they may not bother to call you, they may not bother to call you anyway. I have gained permissions this way but your best bet would be to go door knocking and take some cards with you with all the info you want the farmer to know, such as insurance, experience, that you use fibre wads etc where cattle may be later on on that land. be smartly dressed and polite, remember you will get many rejections but don't give up trying other farms. Do not go dressed in camo or have your guns with you on first contact. Remember the farmer does not know so you have to gain trust before he will let you lose with a gun on thier land. Best of luck

Best of luck I have done pretty much all that you have described, I'm not a stranger to door knocking or sending letters out, I've done this many times, however I'm not convinced door knocking works as well as sending letters out I've had much more/better response from letters in the past, but it did get me thinking about the address situation and got me thinking so thought id ask what people thought. Thanks in advance. As Superspark says, the door knocking approach works, smart and polite is the way to go. I would be suspicious of a letter without a senders address.
