Think I've broken my scales

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone can help me.

I have a set of MTM scales model DS-750.

Whilst reloading some .410 cases the other day I accidentally tipped over the pan containing the powder and got some inside the workings of the scales.

I gave them a shake to get the last kernels of powder out and now they keep reading "OUT2"

I have tried to recalibrate them to no avail.

Has anyone had any similar mishaps and can this be fixed or are they for the scrap heap?

Ta Curt

I believe (stand to be corrected) some nitro powders can be conductive. So, it sounds like you have some powder interfering with the electronic circuit pcb or electronic component. Try gently blowing air into the scale with a compressed aerosol or airline, otherwise dismantle and clean with a bristled brush like a small paint brush.

It's not the powder itself that is the problem but the coating on it. Many manufactures often use graphite which IS conductive - Vihtavuori is one such manufacturer
