taxidermy dave
I went shooting a while ago and saw pigeons feeding well in a corn field. I went and set the decoys up and the birds flew off. A little while later the birds started to come back and they kept flying in for hours. But the next time i went i set up there again as there were birds there but they never came back and only a couple flew over and ignored the decoys. This has happened a few times now does anyone know why and what i should do???
Cranfield
It could have been due to a number of factors. If you have a good day on a field and return too soon, the pigeons will stay away. This can happen when you are sharing the shooting and you don,t know when and where, the other shooters have been. Perhaps the pigeons had found a better field to feed on. The conditions ( wind direction, light etc), may have made the field unattractive to them. Something in your decoy layout may have spooked them. Its suprising how a blown over shell decoy can put pigeons off. I,m sure other Members could add another hundred reasons, at least. Thats what makes it interesting.......and frustrating. :yp:
